Female CJNG sicaria recently killed

Another example of the increasing female presence within cartels, this female CJNG sicaria who was killed just days ago, likely in Michoacán.

Women have always had a role in cartels, but the number of female sicarias getting closer to the violence, carrying weapons and taking part in gunfights has visibly increased in the last few years.

CJNG is one of the more prevalent groups for this, especially in Michoacán (another example).

El Army: Alleged US military veteran with the Sinaloa cartel

In Chiapas, there is a commander in the CDS/Mayiza who, according to people on the ground and various corridos dedicated to him, is a Mexican-born US military GWOT veteran.

With the very creative callsign El Army, this subject supposedly brought his experience from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts back to Mexico. He operates under Jesús Esteban Machado Meza, El Güero Pulseras, with his own group: the Fuerzas Especiales Army.

Other details available from corridos dedicated to him are that he is originally from Mexicali, the son of a commander killed in Oct 2003.

Slide 4 shows some of his men, two of whom can be seen with FE Army patches. Holding the RPD is his cousin, El Paisa, who also has his own corrido (slide 5), seen again in slide 6.

Without El Army’s identity, his story can’t be verified. It is also possible that he embellished his background. I have a hard time believing that a GWOT vet would buy into the cartel “special forces” theme.

Ceará, Brazil 🇧🇷: 3D printed AR9s seen with CV members

This video features members of the Comando Vermelho (CV) based in Ceará threatening rivals from TCP and PCC with various weapons. The cameraman can be seen holding a 3D printed AR9 type submachine gun with double taped magazines. The weapon on the right appears to be another 3D printed AR9 with the same foregrip and laser set up.

3D printed weapons have become very common across Brazil over the last few years, with daily seizures. The most prevalent models are FGC-9s, but these AR9 style SMGs and other hybrid designs are also becoming more popular.

Catatumbo, Colombia 🇨🇴: Manpack C-UAS system used by ELN guerrillas

Slide 1, posted recently by a guerrilla from the Ejército Nacional de Liberación (ELN) in the Catatumbo region, shows a Chinese C-UAS system being employed as ELN guerrillas set up an IED.

This system is a 5 band manpack style signal jammer, costing around $9k per unit.

This is not the first C-UAS system recovered from guerrillas in Colombia. A SkyFend Spoofer system was recovered back in February (slide 3), after a mission that killed seven ELN guerrillas.

A gas cylinder IED can be seen painted black and red, the colours used by ELN, with ELN spray painted on the device. The Angolan flag 🇦🇴 emoji is also used to represent the group online.

This style of IED is used by both ELN and rival FARC guerrillas, often left in the middle of high traffic routes and painted to display their affiliations, serving a dual propaganda role.

Chiapas, Mexico: Mayiza/Pulseriza sicarios on patrol

In this video, the lead vehicle in a convoy of Pulseriza sicarios, from the Mayiza branch of the Sinaloa cartel, can be seen patrolling the streets of Cintalapa, Chiapas.

The weapon seen is an FN Scar H, fitted with an EOTech optic and magnifier, as well as a ProMag 50 round drum magazine.

There is a Starlink terminal visible on the roof of the vehicle, something that has quickly become standard operating procedure for many armed groups in Mexico.

The Pulseriza is a Mayiza faction operating under Jesús Esteban Machado Meza aka El Güero Pulseras, considered the Mayiza leader in the state of Chiapas.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🇧🇷 : Browning Automatic Rifle among weapons recovered from gang’s fortified bunker

Operations by the Military Police in the Coreia favela of the Senador Camará complex recovered a large quantity of drugs, 16 rifles and a .30 caliber Model 1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR).

The weapons were found inside a fortified bunker hidden below the floor of a home in the region, which is dominated by the Third Pure Command (TCP).

Much like the Madsen machine gun, the M1918 BAR is another relic from the past which is still very much alive in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

Slide 3 shows a TCP gang member with another BAR, rocking an iron man paint job on the magazine. The star of David pendant represents the Israel troop based in the Israel complex, which is TCP territory.

Slides 4 and 5 feature another BAR with members of the Red Command’s Bear Troop, as shown by the magazine. It has been updated with a foregrip. Also note the grenade resting on the gang member’s plate carrier in slide 5.
