Colombia 🇨🇴: Clashes between the Clan del Golfo and ACSN

The last few days have seen escalating clashes in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range, between the Clan del Golfo (AGC) and the Autodefensas Conquistadores de la Sierra Nevada (ACSN).

All four videos here appear to be filmed by members of the ACSN, based on their gear/clothing and speech.

Slide 1 shows the detonation of an improvised mortar, known locally as “Tatucos”, followed by some spray and pray with a Galil rifle.

Slide 2 shows some technical difficulties as another ACSN member fires an M60 machine gun, with his buddy trying to combine an extra belt of ammunition.

Slide 3 shows an ACSN member firing a burst from another Galil which also has a stoppage, seems to be a common theme here.

The clashes are fuelled by territorial disputes and have displaced locals. Indigenous communities have been caught in the crossfire, with civilians being injured.

ACSN put out a communiqué yesterday, urging for establishment of a humanitarian corridor and medical assistance.

Colombia: Additional footage of a member of the ACSN rigging an explosive drone

To add to yesterday’s post, the video here shows a member of the Conquering SeIf Defence Forces of the Sierra Nevada (ACSN) attaching a mortar round to a DJI Matrice drone, which can then be seen flying away.

This footage shows that paramilitary forces in Colombia have also been employing drones for attacks, not just the guerrilla groups.

Slide 2 shows a mortar round that failed to detonate during clashes between the ACSN and CIan deI GoIfo. Based on the angle of arrival, this was likely launched by an improvised launcher, known locally as a “Tatuco”. Tatucos were also employed during the clashes, as can be seen in slide 1 of yesterday’s post.

Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷: Drones carrying grenades used to attack militia territory

Last night, drones carrying grenades, believed to be piloted by members of the Red Command (CV) in Gardênia Azul, were used to attack the Rio das Pedras neighbourhood, which is a militia stronghold.

At least two drones were used in the attacks (one source said as many as five), injuring two people and causing damage to a local bar.

Slide 2 shows a grenade which failed to detonate during the attacks. Still intact, the drone operator possibly failed to remove the pin. Conversely, a large number of grenades used by criminals in Brazil are craft made and inherently less reliable.

This is the one of the first drone attacks in Rio de Janeiro since the October 2025 “mega operation” against CV in the Penha and Alemão complexes. During the operation, which left 132 suspected CV members dead, drones with explosives were used to delay initial movements of the Military Police.
