Continued….However, on 4 November, approximately 300,000 demonstrators—including many Africans in the United States—took the streets of Washington, DC, in the largest march held in solidarity with Palestine in US history.

Chomsky compared the apartheid Palestinians face in their occupied territories with racialised inequality in the United States. White families are about eight times wealthier than their African counterparts. The colonial nature of African people's existence in the United States means they often have limited to no access to decent food, water, housing, healthcare, jobs and education, while being twice as likely as white people to die at the hands of police and five times more likely to serve prison time.

As a country that touts itself as the shining city on the hill and chief defender of democracy, it’s a little ironic, isn’t it? Let us know what you think.

DON'T FORGET ISRAEL FORCIBLY STERILISED BLACKS

Here’s a reminder of what Israel's done to its Black population. Social media content creator, Andrew Ola, runs through the contraception scandal that saw Tel Aviv sterilise Jewish Ethiopian women without their consent.

They were injected with Depo-Provera which thickens the cervical mucus to prevent pregnancy. And it’s caused long-lasting infertility issues among those who had to take it ten years ago.

Andrew urges all Blacks to remember this, if they’re ‘undecided about what’s going on between Israel and Palestine.'

The current conflict has divided opinion in Africa, with the likes of Kenya, Ghana and DRC taking a pro-Israel stance.

Do you think a post like this will sway opinion?

KWAME TURE: ZIONISM IS THE BABY CHILD OF IMPERIALISM

Is Zionism really about providing an oppressed people with a sovereign homeland? If so, why does Zionist Israel collaborate with the world's biggest imperialist powers? As All-African People's Revolutionary Party organiser Kwame Ture often explained to audiences in the 1980s and 1990s, Zionist Israel was born out of colonialism, birthed by the biggest imperialist power of its day, the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom held on to Palestine as its colony. When it decided that it was time to expel Jews from Europe, it organized a mass transfer of its Palestine colony into Jewish hands. What is more anti-Semitic than that? No African can respect a state that closely allies with the United Kingdom. And no African can respect a state that is nearly entirely funded by the United States. Ture broke down how and why Zionist Israel is a US proxy state in the Middle East. Let us know what you think.

MALEMA ON PALESTINE & DRC

During his 9 November visit to Kenya, Economic Freedom Fighters President Julius Malema shared his perspective on Palestine. The South African Pan-Africanist called out the International Criminal Court (ICC) for not issuing an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as they did for Russian President Vladmir Putin because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to the latest reports, Israel has killed more than 11,000 Palestinian civilians, including 4,500 children, since the 7 October escalation in the Gaza Strip. Yet, the criminal court has been tight-lipped.

Continued….The ICC, is seen as a symbol of Western imperialism. It has overwhelmingly prosecuted non-white leaders, except for in the case of people like Russian President Vladimir Putin and a handful of other white leaders from Serbia and South Ossetia. Malema added that African countries should sever diplomatic ties with Israel. He highlighted the role international solidarity played in the fight against apartheid in South Africa.

Malema is visiting Kenya to grace the opening of a Pan-African institute, and we'll be sharing developments.

In the meantime, let us know what you think of his comments.

ABOLISHED? SLAVERY ALIVE & WELL IN U.S.

It’s widely believed that the US abolished slavery. That’s the point of the 13th Amendment, right? Not quite. There’s a loophole clause that means the state can force criminals to work. That may sound like a just punishment for certain crimes, but stop to consider whom the US disproportionately - and often unjustly - locks up: Africans in America. Like and share our quick explainer if you think this needs more attention and action.

IMF, WORLD BANK: DEPT-TRAPPING AFRICA

Pan-Africanist scholar PLO Lumumba explains how the IMF and World Bank control Africa. The two institutions provide Africa with aid, which is used as a tool to trap the African continent in constant debt. PLO urges Africa to rescue itself from so-called ‘dead aid’ and build its own economy. He also takes a swipe at the African Development Bank, which, he says, has been captured by non-African shareholders.

THE ART OF TATTOO IN AFRICA

Today tattoos are seen as a form of beauty - but in African culture it runs a lot deeper than that.
For centuries body art could signify virility or masculinity or even ward off evil spirits.
We get under the skin of their meaning for different cultures from the Dagomba in Northern Ghana, to Suri males in Ethiopia.

SOUTH AFRICA TO ICC: ARREST NETANYAHU NOW!

Benjamin Netanyahu should be brought before The Hague. That’s according to South Africa’s foreign minster, who called Israel’s actions in Gaza a violation of international law. Naledi Pandor also called for an immediate ceasefire.

South Africans feel a special solidarity with the Palestinians, whose plight reminds them of their own experiences of oppression under apartheid.

Pretoria has also now recalled diplomats from Israel - in disgust at what it describes as Tel Aviv’s genocide in Gaza.

GOUB EXPOSES MEDIA BIAS

This is an example of when the media plays judge, jury and executioner. Watch Palestinian activist Goub's interview last week about the 7 October escalation in the 75-year illegal occupation of Palestine by lsrael. Here it is with GB News in the United Kingdom. According to Goub, the interview had not aired on the TV programme, 'Friday Morning with Esther and Phillip.' It's a no-brainer that they had a lot to hide, given the interview ended abruptly, as Goub stormed off the set. Let us know your thoughts below.

The world is angry at what many regard as the genocide happening in Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of protesters around the world have come out in solidarity with the Palestinian people, including in the UK.

But instead of the government there directing its anger towards Israel’s killing of over 11,000 Palestinians, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stands in solidarity with Israel - and, in his words, wants “them to win.”

Meanwhile, police in the country have devoted their energies to tracking down a pro-Palestinian protester. At at rally, she was carrying a placard featuring Sunak as well as (now ex) Home Secretary Suella Braverman alongside some coconuts - that police say constituted a hate crime.

Incidentally, Sunak fired Braverman over her remarks on police leniency towards pro-Palestinian protesters and calling them “mobs” and “hate marchers.” Even after initially agreeing with her.

Do you think the placard warrants an arrest, or is it just a witch hunt?

SOUTH AFRICA POLITICIAN: IT'S NOT A RELIGIOUS WAR

The Israel-Palestine conflict should not be framed as a holy war. It’s a war of evil based on racism. That’s the assessment of South African politician Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, who spoke his mind 7 November in the National Assembly.

In a passionate summary, Ndlozi, who represents Pan-Africanist party Economic Freedom Fighters in the South African legislative body, called out Israel over its continued destruction of Gaza, killing of hundreds of Palestinians every day. Since the 7 October escalation in the 75-year conflict, the Israeli military has killed more than 11,000 Palestinians in the besieged strip. Water, food and fuel have only recently been allowed to enter via 4-hour 'humanitarian pauses.' Meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians have fled northern Gaza for Egypt.

PALESTINE VS ISRAEL: THE SOUTH AFRICAN FRONT

South Africa's Cape Town was witness to violent confrontations between Palestine and Israel supporters on 12 November. In what took stun grenades and water cannons to disperse, South African police arrested several people.

The incident happened after the rival protests took place in the city, where Nelson Mandela's grandson, Zwelivelile, spoke. Tens of thousands of demonstrators that day demanded the closure of the Israeli embassy over that country's air, sea and ground attack of the Gaza Strip. The attacks have so far killed more than 11,000 Palestinians—including at least 4,000 children—since the 7 October escalation.

Continued….South Africa's government has taken a pro-Palestine stance, announcing 6 November it was pulling its ambassador out of Tel Aviv. Israel's ambassador to South Africa, Eliav Belotsercovsky, was summoned to the country's international relations department, where he was read the riot act over comments he reportedly had made in public. Like other major Global South powers, South Africa has pointed to Zionist Israel's more than 75 years of systematically oppressing Palestinians as the root cause of the violence.

The Jewish population in South Africa—the largest on the continent—is split in its loyalty.

WE MUSN'T FORGET DARFUR!

The genocide happening in Darfur and wider Sudanese civil war are at risk of being forgotten. The world is understandably preoccupied with the horrors of Gaza right now, but attention - and action - must also be brought to this African tragedy, which has claimed 10,000 lives since the outbreak of hostilities on April 15th. The conflict’s also created a massive refugee crisis, with six-million people fleeing the violence. This violence has turned even uglier in the country’s Darfur region, where RSF and Arab militias are conducting a campaign of ethnic cleansing, something the region was already scarred by two decades earlier. Not everyone’s taken their eye off the ball, though - among them, US influencer Lynae Vanee. This African sister in America is using her reach to get the word about Sudan out. Have a watch and share, share, share - Sudan’s war and genocide must stop!

CORNEL WEST: PALESTINE IS NOT FORGOTTEN

Activist, philosopher and presidential candidate Cornel West spoke out 12 November in New York City in favor of a free Palestine.

As West explains, Africans in the United States have long taken clear positions siding with oppressed peoples all over the world. We remember the position of our freedom fighters during the US war on Vietnam and during the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. Now, as Palestine is under attack, we are called upon to continue our heritage of resistance and solidarity to stand against ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Thus far, the Israeli military has killed more than 11,000 people in the besieged enclave.

Let us know what you think of West’s remarks.

CARVING UP AFRICA

THE MAN BEHIND AFRICA’S PARTITION

On the 15th of November 1884, European powers came together and carved up Africa with not a single African in the room in what’s called the Berlin Conference. This was the brainchild of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, and his thirst for German colonies in Africa led to a catastrophic tragedy. The Conference sparked the scramble for Africa among European powers. Participants drew arbitrary borders, disregarding cultural and political groups, causing disruption and conflicts. The result was the exploitation of Africa’s resources by colonial powers. Bismarck’s actions had devastating consequences for the African continent.
