OFCOM SUSPEND AFRICAN BOSS OVER ANTI-ISRAEL POST

Is this the thin line between free speech and hate speech? Zimbabwean Fadzai Madzingira has been suspended from her job at UK media watchdog OFCOM for posting 'anti-Israel' views.

Rightwing website Guido Fawkes shared screenshots of her personal instagram account where she branded Israel an apartheid state. She also liked a BLM post criticising the UK and Israel for their 'vile colonial alliance'.

Madzingira describes herself as a Black feminist and student of decolonisation. She was hired in May as an online safety supervision director at OFCOM, which is investigating her social media activity.

NASSER: U.S. SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL IS THE PROBLEM

Is it time the US listened to a bit of old African advice? President Joe Biden has come out strongly in support of Israel, as Tel Aviv rains down bombs and kills Palestinian children in their thousands - supposedly acting in self-defence. Were Egypt’s former president Gamal Abdel Nasser still around, he’d probably want to tell Biden what he said back in this 1967 interview: “US support of Israel is the problem!”

Here he argues that it’s a simple matter of fairness - a superpower like the US shouldn’t take sides, but should equally listen to Arab voices and concerns.

Continued- NASSER: U.S. SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL IS THE PROBLEM

A Pan-Africanist and Pan-Arabist, Nasser had ambitions of defeating Israel and returning all of Palestine to the Palestinians. But he was dealt a bloody nose by Tel Aviv’s’s pre-emptive 1967 attack. Not only did Egypt lose Gaza and the Sinai Peninsula during the ensuing Six-Day War, Israel also took over the West Bank from Jordan and the Golan Heights from Syria.

Before and after 1967, the US has been Israel’s main arms supplier. It pumps billions into the country and gives it seemingly unconditional support on the diplomatic front - whether Tel Aviv’s actions are legal or not. Under Donald Trump, the US inflamed tensions further by recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Do you think Nasser was right? Why do we never hear Washington defend Palestinian rights?

ISRAEL BLASTS UN CHIEF FOR TELLING TRUTH

UN Chief António Guterres has come under fire from Israel for addressing the real issue behind the Palestine-Israel crisis.

Coming on the back of three vetoed resolutions calling for a ceasefire, Mr Guterres courageously pointed out the decades of stifling Israeli occupation and denial of basic human rights to Palestinians as a major cause of the conflict.

Displaying empathy and compassion for victims on both sides, he rightly called out violation of the rules of war, such as the ongoing flattening of Gaza, the bombing of hospitals and UN facilities which has killed over 7,000 Palestinians, more than 2,000 of them children.

Speaking for a world whose conscience is increasingly strained by the collective punishment of civilians, Mr Guterres urged the upholding of international humanitarian laws.

Continued - ISRAEL BLASTS UN CHIEF FOR TELLING TRUTH

Israel responded by calling for the UN Chief's resignation. Gilad Erdan, Israel's permanent representative to the UN, invoked a ritualistic term in his statement, accusing the UN Chief of 'blood libel'. Israel said it will refuse visas to UN officials forthwith, adding that the time has come to 'teach them a lesson'.

SCALING THE HISTORY OF BENIN’S AMAZING WALLS

Did you know that in 1010 AD, the largest man-made structure in Africa was located in the Old Benin Kingdom, in present-day Nigeria? The mighty Walls of Benin - in their prime - stretched 16,000 km (beaten only by the Great Wall of China’s 21,000 km!). Alas, this glorious kingdom was destroyed - and looted - by the British. Here’s a quick look at the key history of one of the world’s engineering wonders.

SUDAN WAR: WHO GAINS?

Sudan’s grim civil war has now raged for over 6 months and claimed the lives of more than 9,000 civilians. That’s the official toll, but it’s feared the real number could be far greater. The deadly conflict looks like a straightforward power struggle between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces militia, but there’s a lot at stake for other countries. Here’s a look at who stands to gain and lose from this devastating war.

ISRAEL’S FORMER ENVOY: PALESTINIANS ‘INHUMAN’

Take a look at these two clips. One is from Israel’s former ambassador to the UN Dan Gillerman and the other from Dominic Berger, a church leader during the apartheid regime: same ideology, different messengers.

During an interview on British TV, Gillerman said he doesn’t understand why the world is up in arms over Israel’s blockade of Gaza and bombing of Palestinians, who he calls ‘inhuman animals’.

And when you compare Gillerman’s speech to a leader from South Africa’s dark past, the parallels are glaring.

JAPANESE BABY KILLERS IN CONGO

Japanese mine workers in DRC allegedly conspired with camp doctors to euthanise healthy, mixed-race babies they had with Congolese women. According to survivors, the fathers wanted the children dead to cover-up their sex lives in Africa before returning home. It’s a shocking story that hasn’t received anywhere near enough media attention. Please help us get the word out.

ISRAELI MP: ‘GAZA KIDS TO BLAME FOR WAR!’

In any war - be it Sudan’s ongoing civil war or Israel’s campaign in Gaza - child deaths are the hardest to bear.

In the case of Gaza, the number of children killed has been astronomical - over 3,000 in the span of a few weeks. According to Save the Children, that’s more than the annual number of children killed across the world’s conflict zones since 2019.

All of this makes a recent remark by Israeli MP Meirav Ben-Ari all the more shocking. Watch as, during a heated Knesset session, she callously claims that the children of Gaza had “brought this on themselves.” It was too much for some fellow MPs, who reacted with outrage.
