The Sudanese army and allied forces seized the town of #Hamrat al-Wiz in North Kordofan state on Sunday, driving out the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and tightening control over a critical supply corridor to the capital.
The advance follows a swift military offensive in late July that cleared the #RSF from large swathes of the state, restoring control over the vital Export Road and pushing paramilitary fighters into western redoubts near the border with Darfur.
Securing Hamrat al-Wiz broadens the army’s defensive buffer around the garrison towns of Jabrat al-Sheikh and Bara while safeguarding commercial and civilian transit along the principal highway linking North Kordofan to Khartoum.

#Iran says will declare 'prohibited zone' near #Hormuz Strait in coming days
Iran's top security chief Mohsen Rezaei on Sunday said his country would establish a "prohibited zone" near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, state media reported.
