#Sudanese Army receives surrender of #RSF unit in #Omdurman
A Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unit, including the group known as “Group 26,” has surrendered to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the Omdurman area, handing over its personnel and military equipment, according to Sudan’s official news agency SUNA.
The unit, reportedly comprising about 45 fighters and officers, arrived from Bara and other areas of North Kordofan following recent SAF advances in the region. The fighters surrendered with their military equipment, including combat vehicles and weapons, SUNA reported.
The surrender comes as the Sudanese army has expanded its presence in North Kordofan, including along strategic routes connecting El Obeid with the capital region.
The group was received by army and intelligence officials, alongside Al-Nour Ahmed Adam, also known as Al-Nour al-Qubba, a former senior RSF commander who defected to the army earlier this year.

The Ethiopian government today launched its annual Green Legacy Initiative, aiming to plant 800 million tree seedlings nationwide in a single day as part of its 2026 rainy-season target of planting more than eight billion seedlings.
Launched in 2019 under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the initiative became as a flagship environmental campaign aimed at restoring degraded land, expanding forest cover, strengthening climate resilience, improving water resources and food security, and increasing carbon sequestration.
Officials say the campaign builds on previous mass tree-planting drives, with cumulative plantings since 2019 reported in the tens of billions. This year’s effort, held under the theme "Let Us Plant Hope," is expected to involve millions of participants, including government institutions, schools, communities, and Ethiopian diplomatic missions abroad.
Today’s nationwide campaign is underway across the country.

The strike hit the village of Garra al-Zawaya, near Kabkabiya, at around 1 p.m. local time as civilians gathered for hearings at the traditional court, where community leaders were mediating local disputes and tribal cases. The session was reportedly being held beneath a tree when the strike occurred.
Emergency Lawyers, a Sudanese rights group that has documented abuses by both sides in the country’s war, said the attack killed at least 35 people. A witness cited by AFP said four tribal leaders and two commanders of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were among those killed.
The village is under RSF control. The building housing the customary court was also damaged in the strike.
