News: #EU joins #US in raising concern over #Tigray tensions, urges return to Pretoria peace talks
The European Union Delegation to #Ethiopia has voiced concern over escalating political and security tensions in Tigray, becoming the latest member of the diplomatic community to publicly urge both the Tigray People's Liberation Front (#TPLF) and the Ethiopian federal government to recommit to implementing the 2022 #Pretoria Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (#CoHA).
In a statement issued today, the EU delegation said it was concerned by "the tense situation in northern Ethiopia," including recent actions by the TPLF to establish a parallel regional council and to "unilaterally enforce military conscription" in Tigray, describing the moves as breaches of the Pretoria agreement.
