It’s Anne Frank’s birthday. She died in the nazi concentration camps, after hiding in Amsterdam for two years, where she wrote most of her diary, which is now found in almost every bookstore as the infamous diary of a young girl. This book was one of the few books that made me feel a wave of sadness that i could never truly describe. Cause in her diary you get to know an interesting smart girl that’s bravely ambitious, she’s discovering her own body and sexuality as a young woman, she’s studying everything that a normal student has to learn while hiding in the annex with her parents and sister, you get to know Anne as an outstanding person, you start to feel like you’ve known her all your life, almost like an old friend, but it’s a painful feeling in your gut, cause you know that she’s going to die, and you know how bitter her death is going to be, but she’s just a teenager trying to survive ww2 and go back to a normal life. And as Jeff Mangum has put it nicely before “i wish i could save her in some sort of time machine. “
