Discover

Deep dive: a placement map for social proof that actually gets read
Social proof works because of informational conformity — Cialdini's synthesis of decades of research: under uncertainty, people use others' behavior as evidence for the correct action. But proof only influences if it's encountered at the moment uncertainty peaks. A testimonial wall in the footer is a monument nobody visits. Placement is the whole game.
The mapping playbook:
— Step 1: Mark your page's three uncertainty spikes: the moment of arrival (is this legit?), the moment before the form (is this safe to give?), and the moment of price reveal (is this worth it?).
— Step 2: Match a proof type to each spike. Arrival wants volume proof ("used by 40,000 marketers") for instant credibility. The form wants risk-reducing proof (a security note, a real reviewer photo). The price wants outcome proof (a specific, numeric result).
— Step 3: Make proof specific. "Great service!" is noise. "Cut our cost-per-lead from $40 to $26 in 6 weeks" is signal — specificity is what separates believable proof from filler.
— Step 4: Attribute fully. Name, photo, company, role. Unattributed quotes read as invented, and a single sniff of fabrication poisons every other claim on the page.
— Step 5: Avoid the proof pile-up. Ten badges in a row trigger skepticism, not trust; choose the strongest one or two per spike.
— Step 6: Test removing proof from cold zones. Footer testimonials rarely earn their load cost.
Mechanism: proof is decision support, delivered just-in-time. Out of context it's decoration; in context it's the nudge that resolves the specific doubt blocking the next click.
A research caveat: social proof can backfire when it advertises an undesirable norm ("only 3% complete this"). Frame the proof around the behavior you want adopted, never the gap.
TL;DR
— Map proof to the three uncertainty spikes: arrival, pre-form, price reveal.
— Specific + fully attributed beats volume of generic badges; pile-ups breed skepticism.
— Don't advertise an undesirable norm — frame proof around the wanted behavior.

Pinterest запустил Visual Search Ads

@oduches (менеджер)
Bounce

Deep dive: a one-pass checklist to strip cognitive load from a lander
Cognitive load is the mental effort a page demands to be understood. The framework comes from Sweller's Cognitive Load Theory (educational psychology, 1980s onward), which splits load into intrinsic (the inherent difficulty of the offer) and extraneous (effort wasted on how it's presented). You can't change intrinsic load much, but extraneous load is entirely yours to cut — and it's where most landers bleed comprehension.
The single-pass checklist:
— Step 1: Read your headline aloud once. If you need a second read to get it, your visitor needs a third. Rewrite for first-pass clarity, not cleverness.
— Step 2: Count your fonts and weights. More than two families or three weights forces the eye to re-parse hierarchy. Collapse them.
— Step 3: Find every place the visitor must hold information in working memory. "As mentioned above" means they have to scroll back — a load tax. Repeat the fact instead.
— Step 4: Audit jargon. Each unexplained term is a comprehension stall. Define on first use or delete.
— Step 5: Check contrast and size. Low-contrast or small body text raises perceptual load before semantic load even begins; the brain works harder just to resolve the letters.
— Step 6: Remove decorative motion. Auto-playing carousels and parallax hijack attention the visitor needs for the decision.
Mechanism: working memory is tiny — classic estimates put it at a handful of chunks. Every extraneous demand consumes a slot that should hold your value proposition. Reduce the demands and comprehension rises without changing a word of the actual offer.
The trap to avoid: minimalism for its own sake. Stripping necessary information raises intrinsic load (now the offer is confusing) while you congratulate yourself on extraneous savings. The goal is effortless comprehension of a complete message, not a sparse page.
TL;DR
— Cut extraneous load (presentation waste), not intrinsic load (real offer difficulty).
— Two font families max, no back-references, define jargon, kill decorative motion.
— Don't strip necessary info — effortless comprehension of a complete message is the target.

ChatGPT Pro Max

Deep dive: instrumenting scroll depth so you measure attention, not guesses
Most teams argue about page length with zero data. Scroll-depth tracking ends the argument. The research backdrop: engagement studies (Chartbeat's large-scale reading data is the classic reference) found that scroll depth and time-on-content correlate with attention far better than raw clicks, and that a surprising share of visitors never reach content the author assumed was prime. You can't fix what you don't see.
The instrumentation playbook:
— Step 1: Fire scroll events at fixed thresholds — 25, 50, 75, 90 percent. Don't track pixel scroll continuously; bucketed thresholds are cleaner to analyze and lighter on performance.
— Step 2: Pair each threshold with a content landmark. Tag where your form, your price, and your strongest proof actually sit in the scroll. Now "50% reached" means something concrete.
— Step 3: Segment by traffic source. Paid and organic visitors scroll differently; a blended average hides the pattern that matters for your campaign.
— Step 4: Find your drop cliff — the threshold where reach falls off a ledge. That's your true fold for content purposes, regardless of pixel.
— Step 5: Check whether your conversion element sits before or after the cliff. If your button lives past the point most visitors abandon, no copy tweak will save it; move it up.
— Step 6: Add a time-at-depth check. Fast scroll past a section means skimming or fleeing; slow dwell means reading. Distinguish the two before concluding a section "works."
Mechanism: conversion requires the visitor to reach the conversion element with intent intact. Scroll depth maps the gap between where you placed your ask and where attention actually survives to.
A measurement caveat: scroll depth is necessary but not sufficient. Reaching a section isn't reading it, and bots inflate shallow depths. Cross-reference with dwell time and filter known bot traffic before you redesign around a number.
TL;DR
— Track bucketed thresholds (25/50/75/90%) tagged to real content landmarks.
— Segment by source, find the drop cliff, and make sure your ask sits before it.
— Pair depth with dwell time and filter bots — reach isn't reading.
