Can you guess where you are?
it has been a while since I coded with golang and I didn't want to feel like an impostor at the GopherCon Ethiopia that's to be held this upcoming saturday afternoon. [details here] so I felt like I needed a simple side project involving golang.
well also I love travelling. so I recreated GeoGuessr, the Ethiopia version. if you have never played GeoGuessr before, it is a simple online game where you are shown a random street image and you guess the place.
the problem I encountered when limiting it to Ethiopia is we don't have that many street images. I have tried to add as many places as possible. some of them are even outdated by five or more years. I will be adding more as I find them. it's open source, so you can add too.
multiplayer is also supported. you can play with your friend who always brags he/she never misses any place in Ethiopia.
do check it and leave your comments. I would appreciate it if you leave me stars on github too :)

Having GitHub Copilot Pro as a student is actually so useful tbh
If youβre a student, you can get it for free through the GitHub Student Developer Pack after verifying your academic email on GitHub.
The setup is super straightforward:
1. Go to GitHub and sign in to your account
2. Add and verify your student email (usually your university email)
3. Apply for the Student Developer Pack and wait for approval
4. Once approved, go to benefits and activate Copilot Pro
5. Install/enable it in your editor (like in vs code)...That's it.

π Weβre forming a DSA Learning community
(inspired by Blue Nile DSA community)
Staying consistent alone is hard, so weβre building a peer-driven community where small teams push each other to grow.
This isnβt a course or a place where someone teaches you everything.
Instead, youβll be part of a team of 7, where you:
π¨βπ» Solve problems together daily
π¬ Discuss approaches and learn from each other
π€ Do weekly rotating presentations (1 person per day)
π Stay accountable and consistent
Weβll mainly use Python, working toward:
πΌ Technical interviews
π Competitive programming
π Opportunities like A2SV
π Starts this summer
If youβre ready to stay consistent and improve with others, this is for you.

Be a Tik-Talker.
I watched Birhanu Negaβs Wechew Good episode. Yes, it is a five and a half hour podcast, and I watched all of it, though I had it playing in the background while doing other tasks. The first question that came to mind was why he would choose to appear on a platform where TikTok creators are usually featured. He, or his party, must have had a clear reason for doing so. They know young people are on TikTok, and that makes it a place where they can share their message. I am not saying that is a bad thing. In fact, it was a smart move.
Platforms like TikTok are really changing how things work. Take another well known TikTok figure, Adonay, as an example. He is being invited to all kinds of events, even ones that have nothing to do with his niche. Why is that? Because people are starting to pay more attention to TikTok creators than to many traditional celebrities. As a result, business owners would rather invite TikTok creators to promote their ideas or products instead of relying only on traditional advertising.
I don't know if this fully makes sense, but what I am trying to say is this: if you have an idea or a business to promote, you should seriously consider platforms like TikTok. If you have a business, you should be on TikTok, because it is quickly becoming one of the first places people go to search for things.

the way I am detached from education, if I were asked these questions I wouldnβt answer any of them right away.
- how many courses are you taking and what are the courses?
- which class room number are you taking the class in? keep in mind courses are usually given in the same room.
- what is the name of your teacher? one of our teachers actually brought this question as a bonus in the mid exam.
- is your teacher for [specific subject] male or female?
- questions from assignments. recently, one of our teacher asked questions like "which one of the following is not mentioned in the assignment ?" kinda questions....
and many more... I just realized this now when I am about to sleep without doing my assignment that I was told to do 4 hours ago and that the deadline is by the morning.
teachers shouldn't bother themselves finding a hard question from the internet instead they could just ask simple questions like this and let us fail. how many of the questions would you answer if you were asked ?
