This is so true. Especially in the world of programming, whenever you’re building a new kind of product, using a new tech stack, or working with a system you’ve never built before, it’s not easy. And when you have a client staring at you, expecting you to deliver and ship fast, it becomes even harder.

You start questioning yourself again and again. You feel dumb and think you’re not fit for the place. And it’s not just programming, it’s life in general.

Back in lower elementary school, I was really fast at addition and multiplication, but I struggled with subtraction and division. In high school, learning the laws of electromagnetism was not my thing at all. I had to panic first, then study extra hard until I finally understood the concepts. At university, I wasn’t a DSA person either, but I tried my best and at least managed to get through some paths. I still struggle with DSA, and honestly, if I had kept the same commitment I had back in A2SV, DSA could have been a piece of cake for me by now.

All in all, my point is this. Panicking at first is completely normal, and you will experience it throughout your life. But if you’re the kind of person who keeps making excuses to give up, then you’re doomed, and you don’t deserve to get better. You should struggle and at least give it an honest try before giving up. Panicking without putting in the effort is not the solution.

Also, just because the people around you seem to get it right away, don’t think you don’t belong there and quit. I can tell you that 99 percent of them have already been directly or indirectly exposed to that kind of thing before. The remaining one percent might just be gifted. Make extra effort to compensate, reach the level of that 99 percent, and catch up.

As always, I’m ranting at midnight with a tired brain. Hope this makes sense.

Today’s ders at the masjid was about Zakat and suddenly everyone turned into scholars, so many questions compared to the ders on salat and other topics 😂. It made me realize something: people actually have more wealth than they admit when they say they’re “not making much” in life. Because honestly, if there was nothing there, what Zakat are we even calculating? No hasty generalization, just my thoughts.

I thought everyone would relate to this simple life hack, but apparently not.

I turned off notifications on almost all my social media apps years ago. Telegram, TikTok, Instagram, you name it. I honestly don’t remember the last time my phone wasn’t on silent. It’s always been that way, and I genuinely prefer it.

It’s not because I’m trying to be edgy or detached. I just don’t like being interrupted. If I’m watching TikTok, I don’t want a Telegram notification popping up and pulling me out of it :) More than that, I like choosing when I respond instead of reacting the moment something comes in.

Notifications create this constant sense of urgency. Every buzz or banner feels like it needs immediate attention, even when it really doesn’t. When notifications are off, I check apps on purpose, on my own time. It feels calmer and more controlled. I’m not sure, but I honestly think this nonstop stimulation plays a role in attention issues too.

People may assume this means I’m not active. That’s not true at all. My screen time would tell you otherwise. I use social media a lot. The difference is I’m not being constantly pulled in different directions. I decide when and how I engage, and that makes a huge difference.

This obviously doesn’t apply to work apps. If you work remotely, quick responses matter. In that case, keeping notifications on makes sense.

But in general, I really recommend turning off unnecessary notifications, keeping your phone on silent, and seeing how it feels.
