دوروثی لنگ یکی از مشهورترین عکاسان قرن بیستم بود. اواسط دههی سی، آمریکا دچار بحران خشکسالی و طوفان شن شد و هزاران کشاورز کارشون رو از دست دادن. مجبور شدن خونه زندگیشونو ول کنن و مهاجرت کنن به ایالتهای دیگه و به عنوان کارگر روزمزد و خانهبهدوش فعالیت کنن. همزمان رکود اقتصادی هم اتفاق افتاد. خانم لنگ و تعدادی عکاس معروف دیگه استخدام شدن تا از وضعیت این افراد مستند تهیه کنن. بیشتر عکسهای معروف دوروثی از این دورهس، که تقریبا کل آمریکا رو سفر کرد و عکس گرفت.
