DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control)
In English:: Are you drowning in information?
It’s easy to get lost in all the methods and frameworks out there. There are so many—but I want to highlight one of the most popular ones:: Six Sigma.
It is a bearer of quality [almost like the Joker is an agent of chaos].
This framework even has belt certifications—you can literally earn a Black Belt.
It’s not just a tool; it’s a guarantee of quality in business processes.
Six Sigma eliminates defects and waste across any industry: in manufacturing, it reduces product defects; in banking, it cuts transaction errors and shortens loan processing cycles, and so on.
Not directly, but it also::
• Reduces costs
• Shortens delivery wait times—which, in turn, leads to
• Higher customer satisfaction
Six Sigma is built on the DMAIC framework::
Define – Measure – Analyze – Improve – Control.
By following these steps, you’ll stay one step ahead of your competitors.

In English::
My thoughts before bed: Are you really a collection not of “yourself,” but of other people—of their thoughts, their art?
All of it shapes us, makes us who we are.
But then again—everything “foreign” that we absorb would never take root if we didn’t like it, if it didn’t resonate with our soul.
So I kept thinking: where are we in all of this? Where do we hide?
And I thought—some people spend their whole lives chasing American citizenship, while this guy sits there with zero gratitude, whining about how terrible his life is.
He lives in the U.S. and says his life is awful—how is that even possible?
What do you think about all this?
By the way, did you watch Eurovision? Bulgaria won yesterday with a rather quirky song. I really fell in love with Croatia’s entry—“LELEK Andromeda.” It felt almost cleansing.
I even filmed a parody video and posted it on my Telegram page.

🤩 In English:: Does that bother you? You don’t need to bash Apple for outsourcing.
Apple is a “world-order disrupter,” a company that blew things up by creating a whole new market—the smartphone market (new-market disruption).
If Apple had followed the classic route, it would have entered the market from the bottom up, starting with simple, cheap products.
Instead, Apple pulled off a real paradigm shift by creating a new level of comfort and user experience, paired with a distinctive business model and an innovation-driven culture.
There’s a theory by Christensen that says innovation thrives in an integrated environment, and Apple proves it: their hardware (iPhone, Mac), software (iOS), and services (App Store) form a single integrated ecosystem.
All of this translates into comparative advantage.
That means a company or country’s ability to produce goods and services with the lowest losses, the lowest opportunity cost.
Comparative advantage lets a company focus on what it does best.
What it does poorly—buy from others.
In short: don’t try to do everything, because it’s economically inefficient; focus on a few things and excel at them.
For example, you probably have one or two things you do better than most—those are the things to emphasize, and leave the rest to people who do them better.
This idea comes straight from economics: specialization—concentrate on what you have a comparative advantage in.
Apple’s comparative advantage is in unique design, features, functionality, and branding—not in mass manufacturing and assembly.
Yet they don’t stress about that and continue to sell at 20–50% above market prices.
It wouldn’t make sense for Apple to master every step themselves, so they outsource—“hire” India or China to do the dirty work (assembly).
🤩 Makes sense, right? Pretty clever.
Tell me—were you surprised that Apple doesn’t manufacture all their gadgets themselves and outsources production?

🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
In English:: Have you ever thought about airplanes from a business point of view?
A long‑haul jet flying to Canada lasts much longer than one operating on routes to the Caucasian Mineral Waters.
Why on earth is that?
One night I started wondering about the useful life of a Boeing.
I found out that its useful life is about twenty to thirty years.
And it depends on flight duration and—prepare to be surprised—the number of takeoff‑landing cycles.
The “formula” is simple: the longer the flight, the slower the wear and tear.
Then I started thinking about how long it takes for a new Boeing to pay for itself [payback time].
Turns out it is five to ten years, and that is only if the aircraft flies at full passenger capacity.
(I assumed it would be at least six months.)
🔮 My expert opinion:: buying a plane is only half the battle. The real challenge is operating it properly so it does not wear out before you even understand why you bought it in the first place.
💛 ⭐️ By the way, remember the saying “costs an arm and a leg”—literally “like a Boeing wing”…

Это все называется🤩 момент истины [the moment of truth].
In English:: Do you think people judge by clothes in business?
Yes.
Every company has a chance to sell whenever a lead (a potential customer) makes contact — any interaction with the company.
Any contact — a chat with that damn chatbot, or with that damn agent, or a purchase.
Those are all🤩 moments of truth.
Every touchpoint with a company is an opportunity.
Not only to sell, but to win something — trust, loyalty.
🤩 My expert opinion:: right now you might think your fortress is unbreakable. Remember “Vkusno i tochka” (that fast-food chain). It broke everyone. At “Vkusno i tochka” everything runs like clockwork, and in every moment of truth they deliver exactly what’s needed.
P.S. By the way, about the previous post on reinforcement and punishment: the fridge started working again, and the alarm outside stopped — that’s a real-life example of negative reinforcement (two irritants disappeared for me: the broken fridge and the alarm).

In English:: MacDonaldization is basically about doing everything the same way.
Like at McDonald’s, they stick to their standards and repeat the same actions over and over again.
The logic is simple: you get things done faster and more efficiently.
And it’s not just fast food. Even streaming platforms fall into this pattern. Netflix uses the same algorithms to recommend content in a structured and predictable way.
You could even put call centers in the same category.
They say the same things over and over, and that doesn’t make them bad—they’re just standardized and efficient.
That’s the whole point: when you do things in a uniform way, you get better at it every time.
On top of that, companies want to project a consistent, unmistakable image that sticks in people’s minds (a nod to the “moment of truth” idea from the previous post).

So you don’t eat sushi rolls, don’t listen to foreign music, and whose taxis do you take?
Capital and ideas move freely across countries.
Barriers are no longer what they used to be.
Some people say globalization is harmful to certain groups.
Others claim inflation is caused by globalization.
The average American can buy goods more cheaply, and I think it’s similar in Russia.
Globalization exists because countries have effectively become dependent on specializing in what they do best—this is what we call specialization and comparative advantage.
Why specialize? Because you can produce something specific using fewer resources—less money and less time.
As a result, products become cheaper, reach a wider audience, and generate more profit.
Competition is no longer local; it happens between countries, which are forced to work better and produce better goods.
Consumers benefit—more choice and higher-quality products.
In theory, yes. But I haven’t really noticed that quality, whether in Moscow or in Canada.
You could say, well, Canada is also flooded with cheap Chinese goods.
Or point out that income inequality in the U.S. is very real and quite significant.
But here’s the most surprising part: consumers in the U.S. often overpay because of tariffs on imported goods—and even for domestic products, since local companies pass those extra costs on to buyers.
Even more striking is that the U.S. spends far less on supporting its citizens, often leaving them to fend for themselves in the job market with minimal assistance.

In English:: ROI is abused? How about ROIC, which “another ROI”?
You’ve probably heard about ROI —this infamous return on capital—a scourge of every business analysis.
But there is one metric you’ve probably never heard of, which is ROIC.
Basically, the difference is that ROI shows you a return on a specific project or asset (like new equipment and machinery), while ROIC shows you the return on the whole company.
ROI is abused, but still relevant.
You can use ROI to assess the profitability of a purchased oven for a pizza shop, a new marketing campaign, or a new household item like a coffee machine—one asset or one project at a time.
If you want to see the real picture of how the sum you invested into a business, you have to turn to the ROIC.
ROI doesn’t care where the money came from (was it cash or a loan). It only cares about the result—how much profit it makes.
So the ROI can be the same for a guy who took out a loan and a guy who poured in cash.
Interestingly, ROIC accounts for the whole investment—debt and equity and “punishes” by being lower.
What I mean is that ROIC can be lower than it could be because of too much debt. So the company looks less efficient.
ROIC looks at both debt and equity because it summarizes returns on all invested capital.
ROI only looks at the cost of capital invested in one project or asset.
I mean ROI says how much money you will probably get from investing one sum of money.
To avoid low ROIC, the debt management must be balanced out.

Have you noticed deep-level diversity at your workplace?
What the heck is that?
Surface-level diversity—that is, different traits that appear on the surface, like age, race, and gender.
Deep-level diversity—that is, traits that lie much deeper, in our hearts. Beliefs, values, and opinions are hidden and are revealed later through everyday interactions.
Interestingly, some things can be hidden deeper and can be revealed spontaneously when something happens, like a work or life crisis that shows our true colors (like Joker once said; he was some kind of philosopher, right?)
For example, you might hide your true attitude towards LGBTQ+ dudes, but the way you look at them or the way you treat them may show your true beliefs about them and it might hinder workplace relations and affect all.
Deep-level diversity is cool for better engagement (a 76% increase) and higher productivity (a 50% increase).
Productivity can be improved when employees feel safe. If there is a place that promotes a safe environment to communicate deeply about your inner world, then you’ll feel free to bring out the best in yourself.
When you feel safe, you’ll trust the world enough to act like your ideal self and to reveal your personality traits that would otherwise remain hidden and untapped.
The sense of belonging loosens lips, allowing employees to communicate better and express themselves in a profound way.
Deep-level diversity allows the team to think outside the box. New ideas and methods flow freely.
Deep-level diversity helps companies stay competitive like most successful businesses do; they benefit from diversity.
Diversity has to be managed. One subtle thing to mind when working in a diverse company is managing microaggressions —little offensive comments that may come out intentionally or unintentionally, but nonetheless hurtful. We should educate ourselves on how to lessen the blow.

Do you know the stages of hell your company can undergo?
Stages of business development::
Seed stage
Early stage
Maturity stage
At a seed stage, you only have an idea. You haven’t figured out what it is that you seek.
You start to analyze the market, the demand and watch closely the competitors who made it.
Maybe copying is what it’s called for, but you shouldn’t copy the whole thing:: you may take an idea and work with that, rework it, add new features and functionality.
It’s called an incremental innovation.
The idea might not be feasible, so it’s probably best to soft launch.
Soft launch is when you throw your product in a market to test it out, receive feedback and iterate.
At an early stage, you’ve probably already soft launched and something good came out of it.
Otherwise you’d still be at the seed stage.
At this point, you’ve probably already can attract angel or venture investors.
If they “bought” your idea, you’d get the money and hopefully not waste it on amusement, getting to the Series A round and blowing it all.
You got more confident as the business grows and forms a customer base.
At the maturity stage, you’ve probably already reaped the reward of previous hard work.
It’s the stage when you get paid off. If you’re at this stage, it means your (and usually not only your) money have been “returned” with interest.
