China Evergrande shares PLUMMET 12% as debt deadline approaches

The struggling Chinese property developer shares plunged to an 11-year low Monday, after strong indications that it is on the verge of a potentially disastrous default.

A statement from the company over the weekend said that there was “no guarantee” that the group could meet its obligations and added that creditors had demanded immediate repayment of a total of $260mn.

However, its most pressing issue is a $82.5mn debt due Monday – a deadline pushed back 30 days when it failed to meet the obligation on the due date back in November.

Space Force general details how jamming, blinding lasers, cyber attacks, and other satellites have America's space-based capabilities under siege.

Both China and Russia are regularly attacking U.S. satellites with non-kinetic means, including lasers, radio frequency jammers, and cyber attacks, he said.

The comments were made at the Halifax International Security Forum four days after a Russian anti-satellite weapon test involving a ground-launched interceptor, which destroyed a defunct Soviet-era electronic intelligence satellite and created a cloud of debris that presents a risk to the International Space Station (ISS).
