The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched a probe after a document released by the U.S. Department of Justice in recent weeks alleged that young people, including children, were forcibly transferred.

Dogan Bekin, an MP from the right-wing Yeniden Refah party, said he had submitted formal questions to the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Family and Social Services, asking whether any children in Turkey had been “victimized by the Epstein criminal gang.”

In calling for an investigation, Bekin also cited data from the Turkish Statistical Institute showing that 104,531 children were officially reported missing in Turkey between 2008 and 2016 — most of them girls.
