🇨🇺 📉 As US Block of Oil Supply Deepens Energy Crisis, Cubans Ask: What More Can We Sacrifice?

Last week, Trump signed an executive order threatening to impose tariffs on countries providing oil to Cuba, a move that could further cripple an island plagued by a deepening energy crisis.

The Communist authorities of Cuba warned international airlines operating on the island that as of this Monday, that is, within 24 hours, the country will run out of aviation fuel and thus turning the island unable to refuel planes due to the United States oil siege, Regime's sources tell EFE.

The island’s communist government says U.S. sanctions cost the country more than $7.5 billion between March 2024 and February 2025, substantially more than the year before.

The crisis deepened after Venezuela — once Cuba’s primary oil-rich ally — ceased shipments in January, following a U.S. military operation that captured then-President Nicolás Maduro.

Then, in late January Mexico, a long vocal ally of Cuba, halted its oil exports to the island.

Left with "few alternatives", many Cubans now say the current economic turmoil U.S. policies have wrought on their daily lives is comparable to the severe economic depression in the 1990s known as the Special Period, following cuts in Soviet aid.

STEVE'S TAKE: It's not like Trump's blocking all oil. It's that he's not letting communist countries profit off of selling other communist countries oil.

How about you communists stop being communists? I mean, what do you think everyone who loves freedom is just going to let you continue to get rich and be more powerful? The only reason we're taking these measures now is because we have no other choice.

Yes, I feel bad for the regular people that are victims of their communist regime, and of Trump's recent tough policies, but Cubans could rise up and overthrow their government and be free and then purchase oil from other countries who actually value freedom.

I mean, they've been living under tyranny for how long? So this isn't Trump's fault, it's their fault... especially right now where if they did rise up, then you know Trump would have their six.
