Iran has informed Egypt of its absolute rejection of U.S. conditions. The Pentagon stated that negotiations with Iran have definitively failed and that a significant plan for an attack on Iran has been formulated. Tehran warned that, if necessary, it could strike targets across the region and threatened an immediate attack on U.S. bases if it is attacked.

People tell me I have no right to criticize the delay of a U.S. strike on Iran because such operations take time to plan and execute. I never criticized that. On the contrary, I am glad the president halted a strike that was already underway once he realized the region was not prepared for the scale of Iran’s response.

In my opinion, the real failure came earlier. The leader of the free world prematurely called on the Iranian people to rise up, take to the streets, and seize institutions - while promising that help was on the way. That call emboldened hundreds of thousands to act. More than 40,000 - mostly young and unarmed Iranians - were then slaughtered by a ruthless regime when that promised help did not arrive.

The strike now being prepared appears to be a response to the massacre itself. That is the tragic irony. The “chicken and egg” dilemma applies - but the cost was paid in Iranian blood.

This breaks my heart. I genuinely love the Iranian people and grieve for them. Unlike most of the Palestinian population and their leaders, the Iranian people do not seek the destruction of others. They do not want to replace anyone. They simply want to live in peace.
