🇺🇸 🇬🇧 U.S. Military Aircraft on the Move to Royal Air Force Fairford Base in the U.K.

At the Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford near Gloucestershire in the U.K., at least 10 C-17A Globemaster IIIs from the U.S. Air Force are arriving &/or are currently crossing the Atlantic from the U.S. to arrive at the base.

Almost all of the C-17s are out of either Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia, the home of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment & the 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR); or Campbell Army Airfield in Kentucky, which houses the 101st Airborne Division & the 1st/2nd Battalions of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR).

RAF station Fairford has hosted USAF personnel since 2019. It's the USAF's only European airfield for heavy bombers & routinely supports Bomber Task Force operations.

Its most prominent use in recent years has been as an airfield for USAF B-52s during the 2003 Iraq War, Operation Allied Force in 1999, & the first Gulf War in 1991.
