On December 26, 2025, an active shooter incident occurred at the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office in Wallace, Idaho, resulting in three people suffering minor injuries. The suspected shooter, identified as 77-year-old John Drake, was killed by law enforcement during the incident, and authorities confirmed there is no ongoing danger to the community.
Drake and law enforcement were shooting at each other until Drake was shot and killed around 4:15 p.m.
A deputy was 'nicked in the ear' and has minor injuries.
