As a businessman I can tell you that's typically the last people that get fired from ANY organization for obvious reasons. Donald Trump is a better businessman than me. I'm sure he knows this. So, why when they were doing reductions, would he and his administration fire the people with "mission-critical expertise"?

This is because genuine saving faith is characterized by transformation and good works, acting as the "effect" or "fruit" of salvation, rather than being the cause or means of it. Therefore, while works don't earn salvation, the absence of any works is a serious indicator that the faith is not genuine or saving.

Faith alone justifies, but not the faith that is alone:
The Apostle Paul emphasizes that we are saved by faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-10), but the Apostle James clarifies that this faith must be a working faith, not a faith that remains alone and inactive.

Works are the evidence, not the means:
Works are not the basis for salvation, but they are the necessary fruit that a living, saving faith produces.

Transformation is the evidence of saving faith:
