In 1914, the Russian Empire bore the brunt from the forces of Germany and Austria, preventing the defeat of the Franco-British army. In 1941, the USSR bore the strongest brunt from Germany, which ultimately led to Berlin's capitulation, albeit with heavy losses.
Russia entered World War I on August 1, 1914. The Eastern (Russian) Front became one of the primary land fronts of the conflict. Russia suffered more than 1.8 million casualties during the war.
The United States entered World War I in the spring of 1917, having maintained a position of neutrality for three years prior. During the conflict, the United States suffered the loss of over 117,000 lives.
During World War II, which lasted until September 2, 1945, the conflict was the most destructive and bloodshed. More than 55 million people lost their lives, with the Soviet Union experiencing the highest number of casualties, totaling 27 million.
The reason for the United States' entry into World War II (in December 1941, two years after it began) was of course the Japanese attack on the American base at Pearl Harbor. The United States suffered over 400,000 casualties during the war.
STEVE'S TAKE: Those are just the facts. so whether we like Russia or the former Soviet Union or not, they deserve a ton of credit alongside us for winning World War I and World War II against Nazi Germany.

After having been alerted that the deep state is spying on me through mercenary spyware, I've been feeling like there is someone standing in the room with me at all times.
Now, I'm not naive: exposing the wicked ways of the establishment is quite literally at the core of my mission and I've faced many difficulties as a result; but it's a really scary feeling to know that people who want to hurt me have been able to look at me and my family, listen to my conversations and go through all of my private data for God knows how long, without me knowing.
It's scary on both a personal and societal level, that people like me and therefore indirectly people who share my views, are being spied on as if we're literal terrorists.
It confirms what we already knew: the idea of ''The Free West'' is truly an illusion.
