In Rostov-on-Don, Russia the trial of 24 Azov militants in has concluded.

They're charged under articles related to participation in a terrorist organization & violent seizure of power.

▪️ Case ongoing since June 2023

▪️ Many militants were captured at the Azovstal plant in 2022, others in Mariupol

▪️ 12/24 defendants present at the sentencing hearing today

▪️11 accused (9 women), transferred to Ukraine as part of a prisoner swap & sentenced in absentia; Aleksandr Ishchenko, died of cardiac arrest in pre-trial detention & he'll be sentenced posthumously;

▪️ David Kasatkin (identified by his tattoos “Time to kill” & the slogan of the Buchenwald concentration camp) received the longest sentence—24 years for serving in Azov since 2015

▪️ Former Azov members prior to the special military operation (i.e. Lt Col Anatoliy Gritsyk, who trained Azov militants) will also be convicted
