During the November 2023 ceasefire, the name "Bibas," also referred to as "the Redheads," began to surface in the material.

Hamas refers to them as "al-Ahmar" (in Hebrew, "Ahmar al-Saar" translates to "the Redheads," with the plural form being "du a-Saar al-Ahmar," or simply "the Redheads" in shorthand). Hamas was unable to pinpoint their exact location and understood that they were being held by an extremist Salafi organization. It also recognized that it needed to secure their release as part of the hostage deal.

At this stage, indications related to the Bibas family started appearing in the intelligence material. I’ll spare you the graphic details, but this was the first time the intelligence explicitly revealed that the kidnappers and captors of the Bibas family had brutally murdered them. The murder was not only horrific and cruel, but the Bibas family was strangled to death. Furthermore, the perpetrators—described as human animals—decided to destroy evidence of the true cause of death. According to the intelligence, they performed processes on the bodies that would complicate identification, forensic analysis, and post-mortem examination, allowing them to potentially claim that the family died from a bomb or some other military activity.
