🇺🇸 🏀 ⛹🏾‍♂ Michael Jordan Vs. LeBron James: Who Is the G.O.A.T.⁉️

I'm making this post in response the Lakers' LeBron James passing Jordan as the oldest player to score 40 points in an N.B.A. game.

I grew up seeing Michael Jordan play and have seen LeBron play too over his career. Both Michael Jordan and LeBron James are two of the greatest players ever, but you can't remove Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from this conversation either. Those five players are the most dominant players of all time in my view.

Let me start off by saying both LeBron and MJ are amazing PLAYERS. But neither are amazing PEOPLE. Their politics are garbage. Jordan was a womanizer. Surprisingly, LBJ hasn't had any off court scandals (that we know of). But at least MJ wasn't a commie simp CCP sellout like LeBron.

What Perkins is saying here is all well and good but you don't rank players who play a game based on their businessman skills or even on their aforementioned politics. Both are great businessmen, but pertaining to business skills, Jordan did it first last I checked. Just look at the Jordan brand going strong even today. He paved the way and was the inspiration for guys like LeBron James to use Basketball to become the businessmen they are today.

If you are judging based on their game, then it's a tough call. Both are great in their own right. Lebron (4) doesn't have as many rings as Jordan (6). Jordan changed the game! You had to be alive and experience what it was like in the 80's and 90's with Jordan on top of the NBA world. Like Mike, if I could be like Mike... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0AGiq9j_Ak). That sums it up. Even Celtics fans during the 80's like me LOVED Jordan and the Bulls and had posters of Jordan on our walls. He was something the world had never seen... so much so that Kobe Bryant and LeBron James even modeled their games after Jordan's.

Let's not forget, Jordan played some Pro-Baseball too. He wasn't that good, but he wasn't terrible either and he belonged. I'm sure if he dedicated himself to that like he did Basketball, that he would have been a lot better too. It would have been interesting to see where Michael Jordan would have been statistically if he hadn't retired multiple times in the midst of his prime. Doing so, leaves a scar on his legacy but it's understandable at the same time. He was bored. He was that good. He was a human being and wanted to live his life. So, props to him for not caring what people thought and following his heart and trying Baseball. To win 3 retire and play Baseball like he did, and then to come back and then win 3 more championships just shows how good he was. He was tooling with people.

I leave you with this. I think when LeBron said he was the GOAT back in 2022, to me that showed he was insecure about the whole thing. He knew people didn't think he was the GOAT. Like Scottie Pippen was getting at in this interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jNZDj7SM6c), if you have to say it, then it's probably not so. Let others make that call. It was a bad look for James as person.

Since then, the way LeBron is playing in his old age in the NBA is unprecedented and is certainly not hurting his case and claim that he is the NBA GOAT. The guy is STILL one of the best players in the game even now and is getting triple doubles frequently at 40. That's something Jordan didn't do. In fact, LeBron is 5th on the all-time Triple doubles list (122) only behind Russell Westbrook (202), Oscar Robertson (181), Nikola Jokić (154), and Magic Johnson (138). Michael Jordan had only 30 career triple-doubles in the regular season and playoffs. Let that sink in. Also, Jordan's conditioning wasn't as good. He was plagued by knee issues throughout his career and as a result slowed down in his old age. He was still very good but he faded out. LeBron is still going strong. As good as Jordan did even when he was old and as great as he was, he never consistently did what LeBron is doing now in this 40+ age.

On a side note, what Jokic is doing is off the charts! Having 154 triple-doubles already (32 more currently than LeBron already) is unreal! However, it shows that sometimes you can be the greatest individual player and still not be the winningest player. So, that brings us to the question of how much does winning Championship factor in to someone being the GOAT. Some might say you could be the greatest individual player of all time but not be the greatest player overall still. Now back to Lebron...

Crazy enough, LeBron looks like he could play another 1-5 years. I don't think it will be on the higher side of that because he does have a lot of wear and tear on him. But, he could and IF he did, we all know he would still be playing at a high level until he retired even if it were five years from now. It will be very interesting to see if him and Luka Doncic can manage to win any championships before LeBron retires. That could be a defining statistic that determines whether LeBron is better than Jordan and whether he truly is the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T.).

In conclusion, it's been a trip to be alive for both the careers of M.J. and LeBron in their entirety. Both careers have been something I'll never forget. For that I thank them both for their efforts and talent. But now, as we arrive at the end of the LeBron era, I find myself sad to see yet another great legendary player's career come to an end... just like I was when Jordan's career ended. You feel tied to these players. They became a part of our lives. In the end, good memories is what they gave us and that is what life is all about. I find myself feeling older than my age (42). That makes me sad as well. Just knowing that life is passing me by and before we all know it, it will be over just like LeBron and Jordan's careers. Enjoy the good times people while they are still here. Life goes by in the blink of an eye! Live, Laugh, and Love on one another while you still can. Take the good with the bad and in everything you do, give it your all!

In the end, only God can judge us. He is the true G.O.A.T. and our real King, not you LeBron. You and everyone else would be wise to remember that.
