Israeli intelligence suggests Iran is preparing to attack Israel from Iraqi territory in the coming days, possibly before the U.S. presidential election.
Two drones launched at Israel from Iraq were shot down by air defenses a short while ago, the IDF says.
According to the military, the drones were intercepted before crossing into Israeli airspace.
The drones were shot down near the Dead Sea area.
The attack is expected to be carried out using hundreds of UAVs and ballistic missiles - the sources stated.
According to them, Iran wishes to carry out the attack using the pro-Iranian militias in Iraq in an attempt to avoid another Israeli attack on Iranian territory.
SIDE NOTE: The Iranians are also threatening to damage Israel's water desalination facilities:
About 80 percent of the water in Israel comes from the desalination facilities scattered in different areas of Israel. Damage to them would be extremely destructive to Israel.
