The United States Defense Department has deployed twelve warships to the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean Sea including the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, amphibious combat teams, and more than 4,000 Marines as Middle Eastern tensions escalate.

SIDE NOTE: The US is preparing to send additional fighter jets to the Middle East in response to threats by Iran as the Pentagon is assessing the preparedness of resources required for defense in the Middle East.
