Progress Map: States That Have Passed the Convention of States Article V Application

Article Five of the US Constitution describes the procedure for altering the Constitution.

This resolution calls for an Article V Convention of States to make proposals that

“limit the power & jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, & place term limits on federal officials & members of Congress.”

As of now, 19 States have passed the Convention of States application (Georgia, Alaska, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arizona, North Dakota, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Utah, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Nebraska, West Virginia, & South Carolina).

Only 1 other ACTIVE state (North Carolina) passed the application
in one chamber but not the other.

All time, there's been 6 other states (New Mexico, Iowa, South Dakota, Virginia, New Hampshire, & Wyoming) that passed the application
in one chamber but not the other, but they're now INACTIVE.

STEVE'S TAKE: People pushing the Convention of States Article V Application as a last resort to save the Republic from tyranny & avoid Civil War against the tyrants, tell you all isn't lost while pointing out that there are 21 other states "actively considering" the Convention of States Resolution in 2024 (Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, Wyoming).

But what does it mean to be actively considering something? If you're not passing it in either chamber, then what use is that?

Even if a couple other states join over time (i.e. North Carolina), we're always going to run into the same issue of it taking two-thirds (34) of the states to pass this Resolution. Then & only then will the convention be called.

That means the Convention of States Article V Application is still 15 states shy of the needed number of states to even possibly make the Convention of states a reality.

This isn't new either. It's been going on since at least March 6, 2014 when the first state (Georgia) passed the convention of states application.

So, in my view people need to be realistic & understand where we're at in America and stop looking to pipe dreams day after day, & year after year to save US.

It's not that I don't support this because I do! The Convention of States would bring power back to the states & the people, where it belongs. Unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. shouldn’t be allowed to make sweeping decisions that impact millions of Americans. But right now, they do.

So, I'd prefer this over Civil War IF it were a probable solution. However, in reality it doesnt seem to be one. All this has done is push a problem we can't afford to push down the road down the road instead of facing the inevitability that we have to fight like our founding fathers did to save the republic from tyranny.

To be clear, I'm not saying we should give up entirely on this. Keep it going & pray other states join, but do so as we fight using it as a diplomatic resolution to stop the fighting. We can't afford to just ignore the fact that for the most part, the states that are going to pass the Convention of States Application have already done so (with the exception of MAYBE North Carolina who could eventually pass it & become the 20th state.

Infiltrated & compromised Democrat & Communist controlled states are never going to join with us to limit their own power. It's just not going to happen.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over again & expecting different results.
