Horrific scenes are emerging from operations to rescue people stranded in rising water on a commuter train in Zhengzhou, China.

Henan province has been hit hard by freak flooding in recent days which has affected more than a dozen cities. Unverified footage shows people being washed away, or saved from the brink of drowning.

The death toll is not yet known but live imagery trending on Chinese social media shows the extent of the situation.

Typhoon Cempaka is causing untold destruction across central and western Guangdong, southeastern Guangxi and northeastern Hainan in China.

The current human toll is not yet known but the authorities are preparing for the worst. One woman is seen being dragged through the street, it's believed she died.

In the satellite imagery another storm, Typhoon In-Fa is impacting Japan’s southern islands as well as Taiwan and Guangdong in the south of China - very close to Hong Kong.

At least 13 are believed dead so far according to media reports.
