Al-Arabiya TV reports an increasing number of pro-Iranian demonstrators who managed to sneak into the Green Zone and enter the parliament building. The vast majority of the demonstrators, estimated in the thousands, are still gathering at the entrance to the government compound in Baghdad.

Former Prime Minister and current pro-Iranian leader Nuri al-Maliki issued a call to the demonstrators to withdraw from the region. At the same time, demonstrations are being held throughout Iraq by supporters of Iraqi Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr against Iranian influence. A reporter for al-Hadath TV in the Iraqi capital notes that the distance between the two groups of demonstrators is only three kilometers.
