Scenario 1: If the powers that be don't want some conservatives food to be sold they could just make up a fake news story about the food having some sort of virus in it & then people wouldn't buy it.

Scenario 2: They don't want conservative food to be sold at all so they use this tech to trace the source & then just ban the food entirely without even saying it has a virus.

There are countless other scenarios.

If they put this tech on food & say you eat it, then it's just another way of infiltrating your body with their technology so they can control &/or convert you into a 1/2 human, 1/2 computer cyborg or alter you from the inside out just like the graphene oxide helps to do from the fake COVID-19 vaccines.
