American Councils for International Education is pleased to announce an Alumni Grants Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), to assist alumni of the Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) to contribute to the development of their countries and support their project or travel for professional development initiatives. The FLEX Alumni Travel and Professional Development Grants Program will offer alumni grants of up to $250 to support alumni participation in professional development opportunities, such as conferences and workshops, to develop skills and talents that they can later use to bring back to their communities and alumni networks at home. Online professional development opportunities are eligible for funding. Funds must be spent between May 13 and June 30.

American Councils and FLEX Alumni Office are delighted to announce the next round of the FLEX alumni Book Challenge 📚.
It is designed to turn the quarantine into a book-discovering experience and let everyone share their impressions, lessons learned from the book of their choice.

Here is a simple instruction on how to participate in it:

• Fill in your information on this form: https://forms.gle/A8wP6zjVJ1RM5M1T6
• Choose a book.
• You will join our book discussion group on the telegram app. We will send you the invite link after you register and choose a book.
• After finishing the book, you will be required to hold an online Zoom presentation (or any platform you like for online video or audio calling) and share your thoughts about the book, explaining what you have learned from it.
• All participants who have read at least one book during quarantine will be gifted with FLEX promotional items. Gifts can be sent to the bookworms via post as well.

Building Virtual International Partnerships in Higher Education 🤝

Through UniCEN, American Councils has cultivated a network of dozens of higher educational institutions across Central Asia and provided coaching and training to realize partnerships with US institutions. 🇺🇸

To support global experience for all its students and faculty, the Penn State Beaver campus developed the Experiential Digital Global Engagement or EDGE program. EDGE enables Penn State faculty to co-create curriculum with their peers in other countries, leveraging accessible technology platforms like Zoom to enhance student interaction. 👨🏻‍💻

​​Congratulations, Elyorbek Bozorov ’09!

Elyorbek has won Spring 2020 Travel and Professional Development Grant.
He will earn a subscription to DataCamp.com, an online platform to learn data science skills. Elyorbek will then conduct data courses in Uzbek locally, through funding from a different grant program. Elyorbek also won a full scholarship at Lehigh College of Business (MBA) recently. He will be starting his MBA degree in USA soon.
