Mr. Kaszubowski will discuss strategies for promoting student and faculty entrepreneurship, technology transfer, industry collaboration, and engagement in regional economic development in ways relevant to a university’s evolving research agenda, limited research budgets, uncertain and inconsistent faculty interest, diverse student population, and unique geography.

On April 8, 2020 FLEX Alumni Uzbek Mentors who live and study abroad conducted an online mentorship FLEX talks together with the Program Manager of American Councils for International Education Uzbekistan, Shakhnoza Suyarova and FLEX Alumni Coordinator Dilnoza Mamadaliyeva.

During the online Zoom video call, AC Uzbekistan FLEX program Manager, also a FLEX alumna 2004 Shaknoza Suyarova talked about the history of the FLEX program and gave detailed information about the application process and interviews for the program. FLEX Alumni Coordinator and FLEX alumna 2005, Dilnoza Mamadaliyeva provided answers to the frequently asked questions. FLEX Alumni Jamshid Jambulov ’10, Maftuna Sanginova ’10, and Shokirbek Marimov ’10 have shared their best memories about the program, moreover, they have provided some tips on the proper application process for the FLEX program. More than 70 participants listened to the talk and asked their questions and concerns. FLEX alumni were happy to share their best practices.

Let’s go by Syllabus? Students’ Learning Outcomes in Higher Education

This webinar focuses on understanding the purpose and design of a syllabus and its importance for both learning and teaching in higher education. It also gears toward explaining the value of having and measuring student learning outcomes in higher education. Participants will learn about what syllabus is, how the syllabus is constructed at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and the essential components of the syllabus (e.g., learning goals, attendance policy, resources for students, student assessment and grading scale, course policies, and university policies). In addition, webinar participants will learn about how to utilize complementary resources for designing a syllabus in their discipline. Participants will also be provided samples of syllabus templates.

American Councils for International Education is pleased to announce an Alumni Grants Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), to assist alumni of the Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) to contribute to the development of their countries and support their project or travel for professional development initiatives. The FLEX Alumni Travel and Professional Development Grants Program will offer alumni grants of up to $250 to support alumni participation in professional development opportunities, such as conferences and workshops, to develop skills and talents that they can later use to bring back to their communities and alumni networks at home. Online professional development opportunities are eligible for funding. Funds must be spent between May 13 and June 30.
