🌟The English Access Scholarship Program: Launch of a New Cycle Across Uzbekistan

Starting in November 2025, the Access Program launched its new cycle of activities, continuing to expand access to quality English language education for youth across Uzbekistan.

The program is currently implemented in 9 regions nationwide, including Altyaryk district (Fergana Region), Andijan city (Andijan Region), Turakurgan District (Namangan Region), Bukhara city and Gala Osiyo (Bukhara Region), Samarkand district (Samarkand Region), Termez city (Surkhandarya Region), Urgench and Yangibazar districts (Khorezm region), Shahrisabz district (Kashkadarya Region), as well as Khojeyli and Karauzyak districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Overall, the program is hosted by 12 local secondary schools.

After thorough recruitment process, 490 secondary school students aged 13–16 were selected to participate in the program. In addition to intensive English language instruction, the program fosters the development of essential 21st-century skills and computer literacy, equipping them with the tools necessary for future academic achievement and professional advancement. The program also incorporates cultural activities that introduce students to U.S. culture and help broaden their global perspectives.

The program is delivered by 47 qualified teachers, cultural activities are supported by English language Fellows in the regions. This collaborative model not only enhances students’ learning experiences but also provides teachers with valuable opportunities for professional growth and development.

From Classroom to Industry: How C5+O.N.E. Field Visits Connect Learning with Practice in Uzbekistan. As part of its supplemental activities, the C5+O.N.E. (Opening Networks through English) Program recently organized a series of field visits for Cohorts 4 and 5 in Uzbekistan, giving participants direct exposure to professional environments and key economic sectors.In Tashkent, Cohort 4 visited ProCab, gaining insight into manufacturing processes, innovation, and industry standards.

In Andijan, Cohort 5 visited D-Tour Travel Agency, where participants learned about tourism, entrepreneurship, and economic development from an experienced industry professional. By engaging directly with professionals and organizations, participants explored how innovation, international partnerships, and practical skills contribute to economic growth and cross-sector cooperation, reinforcing the program’s focus on English for professional and economic participation.

Position Summary:
The Program Assistant is responsible for promotion, recruitment, administration, support for American Councils’ FLEX program in Uzbekistan, secondary exchange program. As a key member of the American Councils Uzbekistan team, the Program Assistant will also be expected to support and administer daily programming tasks. This position reports to a Program Officer.

English for the Economy: C5+O.N.E. Participants Explore Tourism and Higher Education in Uzbekistan

Field visits are a key part of the C5+O.N.E. program, giving participants the chance to apply professional English skills in real-world settings.

In Fergana, Cohorts 4 and 5 visited Dilrabo Travel to explore how tourism creates jobs, supports local culture, and strengthens small businesses. Participants discussed the importance of English for customer service, international communication, and connecting Uzbekistan to global tourism markets.

In Urgench, Cohort 4 participants visited Al-Khwarizmi University to learn how higher education contributes to workforce readiness, innovation, and regional development. Discussions highlighted how English proficiency opens access to international research, academic partnerships, and scholarships.

These visits connected classroom learning with hands-on professional experience, helping participants build confidence using English in real professional contexts.
