Launched in 2019, the Faculty Enrichment Program (FEP) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and implemented by American Councils for International Education in Uzbekistan. The program has provided Uzbek higher education faculty the opportunity to spend a semester at a U.S. university - enhancing curriculum design, exploring innovative teaching methods, deepening subject-matter expertise, and fostering academic collaboration with U.S. counterparts.
We understand that many of you have been eagerly awaiting the next recruitment cycle, which typically begins in early to mid-fall each year. However, the program is taking a different direction, and American Councils does not anticipate offering a faculty exchange opportunity in Uzbekistan at this time.
We sincerely appreciate the strong interest and enthusiasm the academic community has shown for FEP and will share updates should new opportunities arise.

๐ŸŒŸ Alumni Spotlight: Kodirjon Norov, FLEX โ€™1996

Kodirjon Norov started his journey as an exchange student in Florida. Today, he is helping shape Central Asiaโ€™s business landscape as a managing partner at Highland Capital.

After graduating from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2000, Kodirjon built an impressive career in investments and finance, working at Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, and the National Bank of Uzbekistan. He later founded and developed several businesses in Uzbekistan in fields ranging from investment banking and real estate to advertising, food delivery, and publishing. Today, he serves as Managing Partner at Highland Capital, a private equity fund supporting private enterprises in Central Asia.

Kodirjonโ€™s passion for technology began during his FLEX year at Godby High School in Tallahassee, where he learned HTML and created one of the first websites about Uzbekistan โ€” โ€œUzbekistan: The Pearl of the East.โ€ That early curiosity shaped his future as an entrepreneur and investor.

๐Ÿ’ฌ His advice to fellow alumni:

โ€œLearn all you can about AI. Its impact is still underestimated. And most importantly, invest in yourself, stay curious, and donโ€™t be afraid to think big.โ€
