⁉️Fossiele subsidies afschaffen in internationaal verband? Goed idee! Er moet alleen nog een heleboel gebeuren. Tijdens de COP29 werd gisteren duidelijk dat alleen Colombia, Nieuw-Zeeland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk zich als nieuwe leden aan de Internationale Coalitie Fossiele Subsidies verbonden hebben.

Vier van de zeven grootste industrieën van de EU zijn nu onderdeel van de coalitie, maar de afschaffing van fossiele subsidies is nog altijd ver weg. De Internationale Coalitie Fossiele Subsidies, onder leiding van Nederland, is al 15 jaar aan het inventariseren maar komt tot nu toe tot NUL (0) concrete stappen. Het is een blamage.

Dertien landen beloofden vorig jaar met een overzicht van hun fossiele subsidies te komen, maar slechts vier van hen hebben dit uiteindelijk ook gedaan. Ze blijven zich verschuilen achter non-argumenten en weigeren verantwoordelijkheid te nemen.

85% van de wereldwijde fossiele subsidies komt bij de rijken terecht terwijl de meest kwetsbare mensen het hardst getroffen worden door de gevolgen van het grootschalige gebruik van fossiele brandstoffen. Dit is onrecht ten top. Op dit moment zijn er nog géén toezeggingen gedaan over geld dat het rijke Westen gaat bijdragen aan landen in het mondiale Zuiden.

Actie is en blijft dus keihard nodig. Daarom staan wij op zaterdag 11 januari om 12.00 uur op de A12 en jij kan erbij zijn. Samen eisen we een direct einde aan de jaarlijks 39,7 - 46,4 miljard euro fossiele subsidies. En dat zijn dan alleen nog de subsidies die Nederland verstrekt. Internationaal gaat het om honderden miljarden per jaar. Doe mee en sluit je aan!

A12 blokkeren? Een goede voorbereiding is belangrijk! Doe een actietraining, de komende 2 maanden worden er veel georganiseerd!

⁉️Abolishing fossil subsidies on an international scale? Awesome idea! There's still a lot that needs to be done. During COP29, it became clear yesterday that only Colombia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom have joined the International Coalition on Fossil Subsidies as new members.

Four of the EU's seven largest industries are now part of the Coalition, but the abolition of fossil subsidies is still a long way off. The International Coalition on Fossil Subsidies, led by the Netherlands, has been making an inventory for 15 years but has so far taken ZERO (0) concrete steps. It's an embarrassment.

Last year, thirteen countries promised to provide an overview of their fossil subsidies, but in the end only four of them did so. They continue to hide behind misleading arguments and refuse to take responsibility.

85% of global fossil subsidies go to the rich while the most vulnerable people are hit hardest by the consequences of the large-scale use of fossil fuels. This is peak injustice. As of today, no commitments have been made about money that the wealthy West will contribute to the countries in the global South.

Action is and remains desperately needed. This is why we will block the A12 on Saturday January 11 at noon and you can be there with us. Together we demand an immediate end to the annual 39.7 - 46.4 billion euros in fossil subsidies. And those are just the subsidies that the Netherlands provides. Internationally, this amounts to hundreds of billions per year. Get involved and join us!
