🇮🇹 Italy targets Chinese AI firm DeepSeek for failing to warn users of false outputs

Italy’s antitrust watchdog has launched a formal investigation into DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, for allegedly deceiving users by downplaying the risk of AI-generated misinformation.

Regulators claim the platform failed to clearly warn users about “hallucinations,” which are false or fabricated content produced by the model. This investigation follows a February crackdown by Italy’s privacy authority, which forced DeepSeek to block access to its chatbot.
