Contest 02/07/2020 = Translate & Win 2 Flowers
————————————————————————————
In response to T.me/FlowerCrosswords/70 , I have received a worthy feedback in Jawi (Arabic-Based Malay) from a Malaysian teacher named Haj Hamdan Abdul Rahaman > T.me/FonJawi/566 .
Removing the dots from his reply, I launched this transliteration contest T.me/FonJawi/569 . Fortunately, last night, a Malaysian teacher from Selangor named Miss Afifah Tamyes responded at T.me/FonJawi/572. She has won a copy of T.me/FonJawi/332. Today, I am looking forward to translating her Malay transliteration that reads:
————————————————————————————
MasyaAllah tabarakAllah?

Wallahua'lam.

Are Malays fond of Arabic? T.me/FonJawi/578
Ya. Malays across southern Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, southern Philippines, Indonesia as well as Malaysia are so fond of Arabic that they had transformed their Malay writing into Jawi as stated at T.me/FonJawi/185 and emphasized by Hamdan Abdul Rahman at the back of his book "Jawi Writing and Spelling Guide" published by Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka/Malaysia T.me/FlowerCrosswords/75 👇🏿
The word Jawi was originally the name of the land, namely the Malay World, then became the name of the language, and is now the name of writing. Jawi as the name of the writing arose after the Western orientation introduced Rumi writing. T.me/FlowerCrosswords/73 @ T.me/FonJawi/589
Jawi writing has undergone several changes in terms of its spelling system, mostly pioneered by writers and publishers, among them Za'ba who formulated a spelling system that can be said to be neat and comprehensive.

Happy Fasting @ Breakfasting to All Friends
Dear Friends, Happy Fasting @ Breakfasting for All,

Referring to Polyglotasianmedicine.com/blog/malay-jawi-rumi-converter, the front page strikingly says:
The modern Malay language has been written in two scripts: Jawi, based on Arabic letters and Rumi, based on Roman letters. From the fourteenth to the twentieth centuries, Jawi was the dominant script in the region but Rumi overtook Jawi in popularity and official usage in the twentieth century... T.me/FlowerCrosswords/59

Do you agree with Rumi overtaking Jawi in popularity?! Which one of the two scripts is easier-on-the-eye @ smoother-on-the-hand?
Adding tails to disconnected Rumi letters to make it cursive T.me/FlowerCrosswords/58 ? Or changing tails of Jawi letters without changing heads T.me/FlowerCrosswords/57 ?!

2. Moreover, Goodmami.org/rumi-jawi-web/details.html adds:
Jawi is an Arabic script, but it uses characters not present in the Arabic language, so it is important to choose a font containing glyphs for these characters. This site uses Google's Noto Naskh Arabic font as it contains these glyphs and is a neutral typeface without many embellishments.

Say : That's not 100% true! When it comes to Jawi, the position of the character "Hamzah" counts T.me/FonJawi/148 . Elaborating: Hamzah goes up to 3/4 if followed by waw, ya or Noon. Examples :
So, in place of Noto Naskh Arabic font, I do recommend using this font T.me/FonJawi/8 . Or editing the database T.me/FonJawi/442 replacing the 3/4 Hamzah with the above-said character "۶" .

Looking forward to changing the font or editing the database.
